New Asian Market Going Downtown in Reno
5/07/09 - A new Asian Market is going downtown, at 540 West Fourth Street, an extremely blighted lot.
The near 7,000-square-foot store will include outdoor seating, raised landscaping and have parking for 13 vehicles.
Ground could be broken for the new Asian market as soon as this June. This lot currently looks pretty bad, it's a run down Pub that also serves as a min junk yard. The property is located about a block west of the Sands Casino.
The market currently resides in a much smaller location. The existing market - just east of the Wendy's that apparently won't sell to the people buying up property in that area, - is part of the property that was purchased by the California based group that is just completing the expansion to Shopper's Square.

This is great. Fourth St. is Reno's ugliest street from Sparks border to Keystone.

This is awesome and very necessary. I love Asian Markets they always have a vast selection of awesome foods and such. Plus not many people realize how significant this is, UNR has such a tremendous international student population and the majority is Asian, so this will give them options. Reno's moving international!

Do you know what the plan is for that block? The folks who own shopper's square own everything except the Wendy's. Do they have some big development plan on your radar?

If the "clues" are correct, this would be the 168 Asian Market in Gentry Way/South Virginia. It used to be the International Market in Grove Street (across the Century Theaters)
