08-19-09 - A proposal that would establish two Tourism Improvement Districts in two different areas in downtown Reno will now be forwarded to the Nevada Commission on Tourism for review to see if the projects meet the criteria for STAR bond financing. The two projects are the Freight House and Tessera Projects.
Today the Reno City Council approved reimbursement agreements with the Washoe County School District to ensure the School District would receive a portion of the sales taxes generated through the development of two projects.
If approved by the Tourism Commission, the request requires the Governor's approval. If it receives the Governor's nod, the proposal is expected to come back before the Reno City Council for consideration on September 22nd.
