Baseball Workshop scheduled for Nov. 28

by Mike Van Houten / Nov 27, 2012

The City Council is scheduled to chat about baseball November 28, 2 pm, in City Council Chambers. The meeting is open to the public and there is a Public Comment period.

The official agenda item is:

Presentation, discussion and possible direction to staff regarding the financial restructuring of the Baseball Stadium project and related agreements. Topics of discussion may include, without limitation, project history, development agreements, the current and future financial condition of the Agency, and the current and future financial condition of the City.

The city council will get a briefing on the history of prior Aces deals, and an update on the current financial status of the city. No decisions will be made during this meeting, it's merely to educate the current city council on prior deals and get them up to speed so they can make a sound decision on refinancing the Aces December 5.

Unless you aren't familiar with prior deals or how in-trouble the city is financially, you can probably skip this meeting because the big decision will happen at their next city council meeting. However if you want a good primer on this issue, you should attend. There is a chance the meeting might be broadcast live on the internet like regular city council meetings, but I wouldn't bank on it.

If the Aces leave, I hope the people who WILL be laid off in this already hostile job market will remember next election cycle who had their backs, and who threw them under the bus.

    1. where are the Aces going to go? Back to Tucson? ha ha ha! 2. This is a bunch of posturing and negotiating by the new city Council. I expect they'll finally compromise, both sides will lose if no compromise.
