11 @ The Firehouse Open House

I had a chance today to go to the 11 @ The Firehouse open house, and I was impressed. The exterior of the building is a true homage to the building's 1950's roots, and the color is perfect.

Occupying most of the bottom floor is Salon 7, with a huge 5,000 s.f.+ space. The decor is what I'd call 'Industrial-Chic-blended-with-art'. It creates a very unique space and fresh departure from the euro-style salons of south Reno.

The lofts are more spacious than I envisioned. Each one is slightly different, some larger, some smaller. Each loft has a kitchen with just the right-size appliance for the space, as well as a private bathroom with shower/tub and stackable washer/dryers. Each loft also includes an upper 'loft within a loft' sleeping area, although none of the ladders were in place yet to access this area. Wandering through out the halls, nearly every available wall-space is filled with art.

I also met some of the people who will be calling this place home, or calling it a home-office in the case of a UNR Professor who showed me around her future workspace. They were all excited and stoked about the loft spaces.
