by Mike Van Houten / Feb 16, 2012

The Rotary Club of Reno is hosting Reno Mardi Gras 2012 on February 21st inside the Reno Ballroom at 50 East 4th Street. Doors open at 6 pm!

This year they celebrate the 20th annual event with over two dozen wineries pouring over 60 types of wine, along with local restaurants preparing treats.

In addition to food and wine there will be an auction featuring wine, art work, ski packages, and Southwest Airline tickets. Funds raised through the Rotary of Reno are directed toward local community programs. Tickets for the event are $50 and can be purchased through the Reno Rotary Club or calling 775-846-3539.

Interesting progression going on. First, the Wells Avenue Conservation District was established which is basically Holcomb to Kirman. Then West of Wells neighborhood gets sliced off, Wells to South Virginia. Now "Midtown" is Holcomb across SVA to Plumas. The urban hipsters seem to be moving their focus westward into the more profitable and sustainable SVA corridor.
