Upcoming Unique Events in the Biggest Little City

by Mike Van Houten / Mar 4, 2014

Thinking outside the box a bit, the Biggest Little City has some unique events coming up that you don't want to miss, starting with this tomorrow. I certainly won't be missing these!

Ignite Reno #13 - March 5, 6:30 pm - Chapel Tavern, 1099 South Virginia Street
If you had five minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Part of a world-wide phenomenon, Ignite Reno showcases the city's most amazing stories, tutorials and musings!

John Lennon & Me - March 6 - 9 at Good Luck MacBeth in Midtown, 713 South Virginia Street.
This weekend only, tickets are selling fast for this one. The winner of many national awards, this uproarious play about life, death, power and first boyfriends was adapted by the author from her popular book, Good-bye, Best Friend (Harper Paperbacks, 1993). Hollywood-wannabe Star, the ultimate Beatles fan, has her path stymied by cystic fibrosis, an inherited disease that assures a young death. She spends most of her time in the hospital, where she confronts fate with imagination by surrounding herself with MTV-inspired bodyguard Flunkies and 'morphing' her dreaded therapy nurse into a pro-wrestler. Then, Star gets a new roommate, Courtney, who is Star's opposite -a pretty cheerleader and apparently not very sick. Neither girl knows much about the other's world, but eventually they come to understand each other, and ultimately, themselves. This is a powerful play about living life to the fullest.

Morris Hotel Grand Opening / NadaGras - March 7-9 - Morris Hotel at 400 East 4th Street.
NADAgras, the winter cousin of NADAdada happens this year at the Morris Burner Hotel. Come experience one of the most unique art shows in the universe. NADAgras is an art show, where each individual artist rents a motel room and sets up an exhibit in it for the weekend. With its relaxed and interesting atmosphere, this art show is different and fun. There will 16 rooms of art, plus more art scattered around the hotel. NADAgras will coincide with the grand opening of The Morris Burner Hotel, so throughout the weekend there will be music and poetry and fire spinners and a party atmosphere.
