Mid Town Center Street Actvity

by Mike Van Houten / Apr 27, 2011

So you remember Midtown's pipe dream project Thoma Lofts? It was a project by Siena Communities that never came to fruition, located at 704 South Virginia Street and fronting Virginia Street, Thoma Street, and a small portion of Center Street, separated by a north/south alleyway.

Well, it seems the folks who presumably own the CocoBoom building across the street (because the company is called 701 Virginia Street LLC) bought the property back in April of last year, and on April 21 of this year, pulled a construction permit for $548K of site work. They also switched the use from residential to commercial. Could it be something will finally be built on this long-empty lot?

701 LLC (or an affiliate) also owns the former fortune teller house across Virginia Street and word is Süp may move into that space once renovations are complete. They've bought up some different pieces of Mid Town and it will be interesting to see what they do.

Wow that would be wonderful! I loved the idea of the Thoma St lofts, but any development would be great. I would love to see more dense development in midtown. Also where is the old fortune teller house?
