Downtown Sculpture Being Relocated to Park

by Mike Van Houten / Apr 14, 2015

This morning, crews began moving the Portal of Evolution sculpture from City Hall Plaza to its new location on the east end of Bicentennial Park.

On February 11, 2015, Reno City Council approved the purchase of the Portal of Evolution sculpture from artist Bryan Tedrick. The "winged sculpture" has been temporarily installed at City Plaza, across from Reno City Hall, since July 2012.

The Reno Arts and Culture Commission and Public Art Committee recommended the sculpture's purchase and believe that it's an excellent addition to the City's Public Art Collection. A formal dedication at Bicentennial Park is planned for the near future.

Bicentennial Park is the triangular shaped park wedged between the Riverwalk, 1st Street and Riverside Drive across the street from Lear Theater.
