Trocadero Room In El Cortez to Receive Tenant Improvements

by Mike Van Houten / Sep 15, 2016

The famously beautiful Trocadero Room inside the El Cortez in downtown Reno is about to get some upgrades. A permit has been filed for tenant improvements at 239 West 2nd Street.

Could this be reopening as a lounge, recalling the old days when downtown Reno was about glamour and glitz?

In its heyday, the El Cortez was the place to be. The Trocadero offered up craps, 21 and roullette, and featured major performers such as Sophie Tucker, the Andrew Sisters, and Victor Borge.

You can see some great photos of the El Cortez and Trocadero Lounge here

Here's the permit info:

TROCADERO ROOM

Great link showing the history of the building! I was sad to see the El Cortez Lounge go, but hopefully someone is able to replace it with something great!
