News 4-15-07 Mr O's and Tavern Updates

I'll try to get pics next time I am down that way, but the white paint on the brick building where Mr. O's used to be on Virginia and Mt. Rose is painstakingly being removed to reveal that beautiful old original red brick. In other tavern news, Ceol's on Virginia and Cal Ave next to Starbucks, continues to look nicer and nicer inside. The space seems huge, wrapping around behind Starbucks allowing for a convenient entrance form the Starbuck's parking lot.

Mr O's does indeed look great... or at least it's starting to. I'm wondering how nice that brick will look once it gets "tagged" though. Can't we just start cutting off the hands of convicted taggers or is that too over the top? As a small business operator there's nothing more depressing than coming into work Monday morning to discovered you've been tagged over the weekend and now you need to get the building painted before your first client comes in that afternoon.

We're sealing the brick with an anti-graffiti sealer that I've heard either works really well or doesn't work at all. I guess we'll find out sooner or later. Thanks for the comments. I think stripping the old paint has made a world of difference.

So...my question is, what will Mr. O's become, please enlighten me. How about a type of bar, or a theme that will be involved, i saw the words Chapel Tavern, but that kind of sounds like an oxymoron. So, what is it going to be and when is it slated to begin operations?

Chapel Tavern is going to be a modern lounge focusing on unique beer, wine and cocktails. Our priority is to have a knowledgable staff with great service. We intend to keep the neighborhoody, local, "everyone knows your name" vibe of the old Mr. O's while providing a modern, hip and comfortable setting. We are slated to open sometime around mid-May.
