More motel demolitions, Some Noodles, New Sign for Santa Fe

New round of permits for downtown!

435 Nevada Street/411 West 4th Street

It looks like the Rancho Sierra Motel on 4th Street directly across the street from The Sands is the next seemingly fine motel to bite the dust along with the motel next to it on Nevada Street. The 411 West 4th Street Permit (Rancho Sierra) reads: DEMOLITION - STRUCTURE. DEMOLISH BUILDING AND FOOTINGS. LEVEL SITE.
Can't say I'm happy about it, it's a cute little U-shaped structure with a desert abode style architecture/theme that could be remodeled in the same fashion Renova Flats was.
The Nevada Street permit reads: COMMERCIAL DEMOLITION - STRUCTURE. DEMOLISH BUILDING, FOOTINGS AND ASPHALT PARKING LOT. HAUL OFF ALL DEBRIS. LEVEL SITE.
Between the three properties, that equals 63 units being removed from the market. 411 W. Fourth St.: Built in 1952, the 10,174-square-foot building has 32 units. 0 W. Fourth St.: Built in 1966, the 6,000-square-foot building has 17 units. 435 Nevada St.: Built in 1971, the 7,400-square-foot building has 14 units.

101 North Virginia Street

The new Junkee store, Uncle Junkee. Things are getting under way at the long vacant (at least at street-level) Woolworths building on the corner of 1st and VIrginia, for a 15,000 sf extension of Junkee Clothing Exchange and Antiques. I am very excited about how this will activate Virginia Street. This particular permit is just for new restrooms, but hey that ain't cheap to do.

245 North Arlington

The permit is just for fire sprinklers, but hey at least it's something, as we all wait in anticipation for his new apartment building to fire up on the corner of 2nd Street and Arlington Avenue, from Jacobs Entertainment. I feel like this is a 'getting their ducks aligned' permit in anticipation of beginning construction. I believe the 'groundbreaking' was about a year ago?

235 Lake Street

The Sante Fe is getting a new illuminated sign. In the permit notes it reads 'The Fe' but as I learned with J Resort, that doesn't necessarily mean that's what the sign will read. Either way, a nice little upgrade for this property. Is this property reopening as a restaurant?

490 South Center Street (Discovery Museum)

A new sign permit for Noodle Box Kitchen, presumably going where Holey Schmidt Donuts used to be. I'm all about Noodles!
