Demo Permit Filed for 1551 N Virginia To Make Way for Large Student Housing Project

by Mike Van Houten / May 16, 2016

A demo permit has been filed to demolish the existing home and clear debris/landscaping at 1551 North Virginia, a property located right across from Lawlor Events Center.

The demo permit was filed on May 3, 2016.

Plans call for a decent-sized student housing project, six stories tall plus basement for parking.

Very nice, I really hope they put some ground floor retail.

That was the house I grew up in, until I was 12 years old! Sad to see it gone. It was a beautiful 2 story home with a lot of character! Strangely they filed the demo permit on my birthday!

This project needs to consider the people's yards in the 1500 block of Hillside Drive. Imagine all of these student apartment windows with visual access to everyone's back yard! Someone was not thinking of fellow human beings beyond the future apartment dwellers. In the back of the building there should be (1) a hallway or (2) windows that are frosted up to about 6 feet to preserve some privacy for the homeowners.
