by Mike Van Houten / Apr 13, 2011

The Reno Aces season-opening eight-game homestand begins Friday, and will feature two Saint Mary’s Fireworks Fridays presented by KRNV News 4, a Coors Light Thirsty Thursday and giveaway items that include fleece gloves, fleece blankets and energy-efficient light bulbs.

The Aces—off to a franchise-best 5-1 start—will play host to Colorado Springs and Sacramento for the season-opening homestand. Reno’s four-game set against the Sky Sox will be its first home series since joining the Pacific Northern division.

This Friday’s home-opener—a 7:05 p.m. game against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox—will be highlighted by pre- and post-game performances by the Whitney Myer Band and is the season’s first Saint Mary’s Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4.

Friday’s game is now officially a sellout, but fans can purchase Freight House District tickets at the box office on the day of the game, which this season include full access to Aces Ballpark.

Saturday night’s 6:05 game will feature the first giveaway of the 2011 slate, with 2,500 fans receiving Reno Aces fleece gloves. In addition—as with all Friday, Saturday and Sunday games throughout the season—all kids 12 and under have a chance to run the bases after the game, courtesy of “Kids Run the Bases presented by Dr. David Welmerink.”

Sunday’s 1:05 p.m. contest is the Aces inaugural Renown Children’s Hospital Family Funday, with 2,500 fans receiving a Reno Aces fleece blanket. Renown Baseball Bingo will make its first appearance Sunday, with fans having the opportunity to play baseball-themed bingo throughout the afternoon’s game. In addition, there will be a face painter in the Kids’ Zone from 12-2 p.m.

After Monday’s 6:05 p.m. game against Colorado Springs, the Aces will open a four-game series next Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. against the rival Sacramento River Cats.

The Aces will roll out Great Clips Charity Cuts at next Wednesday’s 1:05 p.m. game, where Great Clips will provide free haircuts to all Aces fans. All donations made by fans during the event will go towards the Reno Aces Foundation.

Thursday, April 21—a 6:05 p.m. contest against the Sacramento River Cats—will be the season’s first Coors Light Thirsty Thursday™ presented by Lotus Radio and Reno News & Review. Through the fifth inning, Coors and Coors Lights are available for just $2 each. Additionally, for just $12, fans can purchase a special ticket which includes a seat in the Coors Light Party Zone, an acrylic mug and their first Coors or Coors Light for free.

The homestand comes to a close on Friday, April 22, with an Earth Day celebration. There will be a renewable energy trailer outside of the ballpark on the plaza, where single CFL lights will be distributed courtesy of ECOS, while supplies last. In addition, the Reno Aces Foundation will be selling mystery balls—baseballs signed by various Aces and Diamondbacks players—for just $20.

Next Friday’s game is also a Saint Mary’s Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4. Fans can vote on the soundtrack to this and all Fireworks Fridays by visiting Saint Mary’s Facebook Page.
