Siegel Weighing Two Options for Awnings at El Cortez

by Mike Van Houten / Apr 2, 2015

So the word on the street is Siegel Group is demolishing the current awnings over the retail businesses on the ground floor of the El Cortez, and is looking at two options moving forward.

#1 - leaving the fully exposed terra-cotta and adding new congruent signage.

Option #2 - Adding the old style awnings with new signage.

Either option will look beautiful. What are your thoughts?

are they OK with changing out all the windows? No historical issues anymore?

I just got back from Las Vegas and saw several of their properties in the downtown / Boulder Hwy area. They were all pretty run down and drab. I wonder how long they will keep investing in Reno if they are forced to adhere to higher standards? And I don't think higher standards are a bad thing.

The second style, with the awnings, is so classy and stylish, yet at the same time warm and inviting. My vote is clearly choice 2.
