West Elm opens tomorrow, August 11! Check out a preview of this amazing home decor and furniture store. It's located at the old historic post office building at 50 South Virginia Street, which also includes the Basement, a collection of locally owned stores and venues.
It has some of the best natural lighting of any home decor store I've seen, which really brings out the beauty in everything featured. Sunlight gushes in from the massive glass atrium that spans the length of the store and the large side windows, casting light and shadow over the various store departments including bedroom, kitchen, entertainment, and other furniture.
It was easy to walk around and explore the store. Dining sets, couches, side tables, bar stools, bedroom sets and sateen, it's all here.
One of the coolest moments for me was when I located my old post office box there, with my name/company name still on it. Everyone who had one of the older post office boxes downtown should be able to find their name, though most of the boxes reside behind the main checkout center.
Below is a photo from my July construction tour, and it's impressive how quickly it all came together in one month.
