It's going to be a jam-packed fun and perhaps fiery Reno City Council meeting. Check out the highlights from next week's meeting! From bowling to baseball to STAR Bonds, it's all there.

Item E.1-B - Carl's Saloon - Ok this is out of my normal zone of downtown and midtown for reporting, BUT, I have received a surprising number of emails asking me what happened to Carl's Saloon, located at 3310 South Virginia Street by Peppermill. The rumor is the bar changed ownership and didn't update its licenses so they had to shut down. In Wednesday's meeting they are up for a new alcohol license, so that's a good sign for the bar.

National Bowling Stadium - The City Council on Wed will discuss authoring replacing the bowling lanes in the National Bowling Stadium, AND, in a move long-time-coming, consider opening the stadium to the public starting August 2015! I've been in the bowling stadium for several Regional Alliance for Downtown meetings, and the place is beautiful. It would be a HUGE tourism asset to open this to the public, being within walking distance of the casinos. Please please please do this...and while you're at it, light it up again at night!

Discussion of the City's Debt - That's always a fun discussion yeah? Yes I'm being sarcastic. This should be an interesting discussion.

Reduction in Lanes on Center Street - Public Works will present a staff report on reducing Center Street to one lane between Virginia Street and Cheney Street to allow for additional parking. Good or bad idea?

Reno Aces Baseball Stadium - J9, J10 - In a one-two punch, first the Reno Aces will first present their annual report which includes attendance, revenue, profit, etc, and then right after that, the city council will grill them on why they haven't paid their property taxes yet.

Reno City Hall - Looks like the the City of Reno will be sharing our goth-gov tower with "Panasonic Energy Corporation of America" who will be leasing suites 1401 and 1403. Reno City Council a while back authorized whatever space available to be leased, and spaces even showed up on Loopnet. It's a cool concept, I think, and a way to make extra money on the building.

Creation of the University Council - Discussion and potential direction to the City Manager to utilize two or more hours of staff time to create a University Council for the University District for input on the district and the downtown plan; appointees would be students from the University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College.

Yes , please reduce Center street to 1 lane. I've witnessed over 10 fender benders on the corner of Center and Taylor, the right hand driver forgets it is one way, goes to turn left on E Taylor, and hits a car in the left hand lane. Also more street parking is needed in this area. Thank You

yeah a no-brainier! Center St. should have pull-in diagonal parking on both sides to make more parking for the Midtown shops!
