This hardware store has the old school, mom-and-pop feel you would expect if you stepped back in time to the 1950s. Except with modern hardware of course. Ace is my goto place for most house projects, because it's convenient, a few blocks from me, and the staff is helpful.
Also, the owners, the Carter Brothers, take a vested interest in the neighborhood, and are responsible for much of the renovation you see in Midtown, from the Sup restaurant building, to the complex that houses Good Luck Macbeth and Dressed Like That, and even the Sticks project, home to Two Chicks, MidTown Eatery, Chuy's Mexican Grill and more.
I love the sound of the old floors as you walk around searching for hardware. It almost makes picking up a tool and supplies an experience.
